The aim of the project Comune dei Popoli is to strengthen and improve access to public services for foreign citizens as well as to qualify and enhance the provision of services through training and tool sharing.

The first part of the training session “Characteristics and evolution of the Migration Phenomenon in Italy with focus on the Sicilian context” started on 24 November 2020 and was carried out by the project partners Oxfam Italia Intercultura which promotes, through the planning of educational, social, healthcare and cultural interventions, paths of integration and active citizenship for migrant citizens. Public operators in Syracuse participated at the training session.

This first training cycle focused on different areas related to the migration phenomenon on a general level and in relation to the Sicilian context, deepening the dynamics also through the analysis of some significant case studies.

The training modules of this first meeting session included an in-depth study of the new legislation and case law on immigration and foreign citizens, as well as the social aspects of the current migration phenomenon, issues related to the territorial network of services and ways to strengthen it, also through the presentation of good practices implemented in different contexts. The training session was managed according to a non-formal education model and therefore alternated moments of classical direct lessons with workshop activities.
